More About FoundationNorthwestern Mutual of Maryland Sponsors Celebrity Server Night Featuring Matt Birk & Friends
Northwestern Mutual of Maryland and Scott are proud to announce their sponsorship of the HIKE Foundation's Celebrity Server Night at Morton’s Steakhouse. They will be joining Matt Birk, along with some of his Baltimore Ravens teammates and celebrity friends as they trade in their helmets and jerseys for plates and aprons to benefit a great cause.
The HIKE Foundation (Hope, Inspiration, Knowledge, and Education) was established by Matt Birk to provide at-risk children in the Baltimore area the opportunities they need to excel. Interactive programs, educational help, and resources helps these children excel in life, both in the classroom and out. The HIKE Foundation benefits children in all stages of their lives, from elementary school through college.
Through this sponsorship, Northwestern Mutual of Maryland and Scott welcome the opportunity to partner with Matt Birk in support of the HIKE Foundation and the local community.
A new decade brings excitement, abundance, and possibility. Pictured is Scott’s family at the Baltimore Running Festival in October 2019. Rachel, Hannah, and Scott each ran a leg in the marathon relay (on separate teams), Abbey completed the half marathon, and Phoebe cheered for us with Grandad and Bebe. Running became a hobby of Scott’s 4 years ago to spend more time with his family, get in shape, and try to keep up with these amazing ladies! Rachel leads the Girls on the Run program at school where Phoebe can now run a 5k.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, our hearts and prayers go out to those affected by the virus. During this time of distancing, Scott’s family has enjoyed many runs together. They run for their physical and mental health, they run to honor those on the front line, they run for those we lost, they run for each other.
Scott has learned much about himself through running and realize the many parallels to financial planning. We get better incrementally through habits, focus, goals with time frames, patience, strategy during setbacks, commitment, sacrifice, and grit. Smaller accomplishments do cascade to larger ones…over time. Scott trusts we will emerge from this pandemic more connected, more focused, and more thankful for what we have. Stay active, stay safe, keep running!
